Another chance to celebrate care will be on 21st April 2018 as we celebrate Care Home Open Day together with other organisations all around the globe. This year’s International Care Home Open Day will be Saturday 21st April 2018 and will coincide with the Queen’s 92nd Birthday.
What is International Care Home Open Day? It is an opportunity to open the doors of your care home and invite the local community to come and see how good life can be when you live in a care home.
Why do we do it?
- To enable everyone to see for themselves that care homes are not “islands of the old” but vibrant, engaging places to live and enjoy life
- To demonstrate that supporting those that are unable to do everything for themselves can be both rewarding and fun
- To encourage communities to see their local care home as an asset and those who live there as contributors to local life.
The theme for 2018 is “Linking Communities” – connect with other care homes in your area
Who can take part? Any care home anywhere across the globe – the more the better – the more participate, the greater spread of the message, and the greater the impact.
What do we need to do? That’s up to you. You can decide on a special event and invite people in or you can just open your doors and encourage people to see what you do on a day to day basis.
