The South African Care Forum is affiliated to the Pass it on Network, and through this affiliation was introduced towards the end of last year to Age Without Borders.
The South African Care Forum was featured on their Caregiving Summit at the end of January, focusing on the introduction of gyms and exercise programmes to care homes in SA. As well as a full interview during the summit, during a facebook live chat Kari Henley from Age Without Borders in Colorado, Moira Allan from the Pass it on Network (based in Paris) and myself connected on a four way chat with Sr Busi Hlomani at St Antonine’s Home in KZN. The joy of technology in bringing people and organisations together! Viewers from around the globe were able to witness residents at St Antonine’s using the gym (donated by Southern Cross Care, Adelaide) and one of the residents shared what an impact it has had on their health and fitness and their lives in general.
Kari Henley says “Oh my GOSH! We just pulled off a miracle! Facebook Live in Colorado, Paris, Capetown and a rural village in South Africa with resident elders showing off their new gym and thier joy in having tools to stay active. This was SO MUCH FUN and SO Inspiring! Thank you Margie Van Zyl Chapman for arranging this special event and to Moira Allan for your incredible global work. The power of technology in action.”
